"The joy we feel has little to do with the circumstances of our lives and everything to do with the focus of our lives.
Mi Familia,
It's been a couple weeks. How are you all doing with that cold Utah weather? It was still pretty nice here until November 1. The first (actually) cold day here. We got up to go running and walked outside and had to come back inside to put a long sleeve shirt on. It was crazy because on Halloween it was in the high 80s and overnight it dropped to the 30s.
Anyways, last week the Senior Missionaries in my area took us on a P-day to Beaufort and we were gone all day. It was so much fun! They picked us up and took us to Beaufort where we at lunch and had ice cream. We walked on the boardwalk and watched as boats came through the bridge. Then they drove us to hunting island to see the lighthouse. We got to climb the 197 steps to the top of it and lookout. The view was AMAZING! Elder and Sister Brandt are such Awesome people. After the lighthouse, they took us to this nature walk. Unfortunately, I didn't get to see any Alligators. Only turtles. On the way to take us home, we stopped and had an early dinner at my all-time favorite sushi place the Sake House. Fried Sushi is my Favorite!
In the past couple of weeks, we have had a few service opportunities. The first one was spreading 20 bags of mulch around an older couple's flower beds. By the time we were finished my fingernails were stained black but I loved it. The second one was cleaning up pine straw for a single-elderly lady. Her name is Gini. Last Saturday we went and tried our best to clean up but the job was much bigger than Hermana Bruneel and I. We decided it would be a fun service project for the youth. So this past Saturday we were able to go back with some people in the ward and really clean up her yard. She was so grateful she made us pizza. After we were finished we sat around talking and having a good time. We invited her to church and SHE CAME!!! She has never joined a church or really been one to go but came yesterday. The entire fast and testimony meeting she had tears in her eyes. After, all the ward members and bishop welcomed her with so much love. The bishop and his wife took her to Sunday school and after we met back up with them. She was so touched by the love everyone has and told us she wanted to learn how to use the bible. And that she couldn't wait for next week! So we are going to start teaching her this week.
On Wednesday, We had the ward trunk-o-treat. Which was a blast. Thanks to my mom we were able to dress up with animal ears. The kids loved it! We passed out tons of candy. I think each kid went around the parking lot 10 times and had a bag full of candy that was at least 10lbs Then as we were about to leave we realized that we locked the keys in the trunk of the car. AHHHHHHHH. That isn't supposed to be possible with these high tech cars nowadays. But it happened. Luckily someone in the ward had supplies and was still at the church because our phones were also locked in the car. Basically, our whole lives were locked in the trunk of our car. Our car keys, apartment keys, and our cell phone. He had to go home and get his stuff and he lived 40 minutes from the church. We eventually got our keys out of our trunk and were only a few minutes late getting home. It was crazy.......... DEFINITELY A DUMB BLONDE MOMENT for both of us. haha. But all in well in the world now!!!
I hope everyone had a Fantastic Week! I love and miss you all so much!
"The joy we feel has little to do with the circumstances of our lives and everything to do with the focus of our lives. When the focus of our lives is on God's plan of salvation.... and Jesus Christ and His gospel, we can feel joy regardless of what is happening- or not happening- in our lives. Joy comes from and because of Him. He is the source of all JOY" - Neil L. Andersen
Con todo mi amor,
